During our summer holiday, we’ve reflected a lot on what we achieved at Motivated Academic over the past year. We’re very proud of the community that we’ve built so far and the positive impact we’ve had on others.
Personally, I find it super inspiring to hear from you that you find our content and materials useful. I often get feedback that our work helps you to solve the challenges you’re facing in your research and achieve good academic performance. I’m really proud of every person making great progress in their career. Ultimately that is the main reason why Magda and I founded Motivated Academic – everything we do is thoughtfully focused on maximising your wellbeing, motivation and productivity as a researcher and academic.
But when we were discussing the activities that we want to do over the course of the next academic year, we’ve started wondering – who is motivated academic?

A Motivated Academic is breaking the conventional stereotype of an academic, combining the worlds of innovation, communication and thought leadership.
A Motivated Academic is an innovator.
They believe that their research is a calling… they produce their own research ideas and are not worried to challenge the status quo in their research area to innovate. They brainstorm, collaborate, and ideate to make the world a better place for all. They are productivity geeks. They don’t let inefficient practices make them spend their evenings and weekends away from their family, productivity is their middle name.
The generation of ideas is a crucial aspect of research. After all, we do need to come up with ideas for our research projects and, consequently, research articles. That is why Motivated Academic is familiar with brainstorming tools and techniques for problem solving and idea generation. They also know how to efficiently design their research to maximise their productivity and impact!
A Motivated Academic is a communicator.
They are eager to share their work with the world… they explore new means of communication to reach a wider community with their research. They are not scared of leveraging new social media platforms to reach new audiences. They are focused on quality over quantity, striving to publish their research in prestigious academic journals.
A Motivated Academic is a thought leader.
They are in control of their own destiny… they are thought leaders who share their expertise, perspectives and reflections with others to influence the direction of their research field. They are passionate about their research area and actively engage with professionals to ensure their research adds value to our society.
What does a Motivated Academic do then?
